In the simulator you have $10,000 of practice money. Nothing is real: you can't lose or win anything, which is exactly why it's the right place for your first mistakes.

A market order buys right now at the best price sellers are offering. A limit order waits until the price reaches the level you chose — it may never fill.

Start small even with fake money. Buying with everything you have teaches nothing; buying $100 and watching it move for a day teaches a lot.
